I recently joined a really interesting group called Palindrome Advisors. I am one of the founding Advisors. Its a new take on how entrepreneurs can be involved in philanthropy. As it could be a disruptive model, I was excited to be involved.
I currently run a political action committee (called RiverHorse – yes I love hippos) with my wife and have served on foundation boards in the past. The new twist with Palindrome is that it is a hands on effort as opposed to a very passive “lend my name to something” approach. Zaw Thet, who I have known forever, and was an original advisor to Aggregate Knowledge is the leading force behind this new program.
All of us founding advisors were asked to change our facebook status to the following:
“Proud to announce I am a Palindrome Founding Advisor. Today, one hundred industry leaders took the Palindrome Pledge: a commitment to philanthropy and to nonprofit board representation. Follow us on twitter at @palindromeadv, on Facebook (@Palindrome Advisors), or at http://www.palindromeadvisors.org”;
As such I posted this here as well.
