We are very excited that FlashSoft has been acquired by SanDisk. The FlashSoft team has produced some of the most compelling caching software ever written for solid state devices and they were rewarded handsomely for this great technical achievement. Special congrats go out to Ted Sanford CEO.
I must tell you how I met Ted. I was on a panel about venture capital almost 2 years ago. After the panel Ted approached me and told me what he was doing. I was intrigued as it was right up my alley of expertise. We met and I soon after invested in the company. So while a warm introduction is always a great way to meet someone, just making the effort to introduce yourself to a panelist can work as well. In many ways this is one of my favorite stories about an investment and it shows the unique way in which Silicon Valley works.
This is the second exit for Bullpen in the last few months (Assistly by Salesforce in the fall). These two exits total almost $150m in enterprise value and both were approximately 2 year old companies.
In addition to these two exits, we had Zynga go public (an angel investment) and Millennial Media is set for its IPO. I previously had an angel investment called Condaptive that got sold to them.
In all, its been a gang-buster first year of business for Bullpen and we are really exited about what’s to come this year. You can follow all the news from Bullpen by following @bullpencap.
